Toshiba Office Equipment and the Environment

As a global leader, Toshiba's concern for the environment has resulted in some specific design and manufacturing improvements and environmental gains.

From Toshiba's accreditation as an ISO 14001 manufacturer to the reduced styrofoam used in packaging, Toshiba continues to introduce numerous initiatives that contribute positively to the protection of the environment.

Energy-Saving Design

Toshiba complies with, and in some cases exceeds, the International Energy Star program. All Toshiba copiers carry the Energy Star symbol, which when used for office equipment identifies the manufacturers and products whose standby energy consumption is less than the program's prescribed criteria.

Recently, Toshiba's DP 120F facsimile standby power consumption was reduced by 70% versus the previous Toshiba facsimile model.

Recycling of Plastic Parts

Reduction and recycling of component materials plays a key role in the design and manufacture of Toshiba copiers and facsimile products. Approximately 20% of the total weight of a copier is plastic. To facilitate recycling after collection of these plastic materials, the names are indicated on all main parts for easy identification.

Toner containers are manufactured from recycled plastic to facilitate recycling after use.

Reduced toner consumption and re-use is being introduced into Toshiba's new high-volume copiers, where copy volume and toner use is highest. Rather than simply disposing of toner, a unique toner recovery system has been developed to allow any un-used toner to be captured and used without compromising copy quality.
